Day 41: August 13th, 2010

Paige is 5 months old today. I can't believe it. I don't know where the time has gone. I remember holding her as a newborn, thinking I didn't want her to get any older because she was just so perfect. And now, I love the age she's at. I love that I can see her thinking and figuring things out. I love that I can see a little feistiness in her personality and that I can already tell once she's mobile that she'll be TROUBLE! Really though, I don't want her to get older! People keep telling me, "don't worry, I know babies aren't any fun but I promise it gets better". I don't know what could be better than this. So, in honor of Paige's 5 month birthday, here are 5 things I just love about her.

1.) She's always exploring her surroundings. Constantly grabbing whatever's in reach so she can hold it or put it in her mouth. Lately she has been getting more adventurous and as I'm holding her, she'll dive down, hands extended to grab at whatever she sees. Thankfully I haven't dropped her yet!
2.) How easy she is to "read". She always knows what she wants. She doesn't cry just to cry. If she's crying, it's always because she has something specific in mind. When she has her toys out, she will choose a specific one she wants to play with and she will tirelessly work towards getting it and won't give up.
3.) She's a little shopper. She never, ever cries while we're shopping. As a newborn, I always worried about taking her out and wondered when she would have a meltdown and how I would deal with it. To this day, she's never had one. She sits quietly and just watches her surroundings, taking it all in. Even when she obviously is over it, she'll sit patiently while mommy tries on one more dress.
4.) She loves the dogs! She tries to pet them and grab their fur. They love her to death too and are so patient with her. Nic will lay outside her playroom door until I let him in, so he can lay and watch her as she plays. And once she sees Nic, her face lights up and she smiles so big.
5.) Her routine. She's got everything down to a 15 minute window (even pooping). Her daddy and I are so OCD about lists, planning, scheduling. She loves her schedule so much that we don't have to cue anything for her. She sleeps at the same time, wakes up at the same time, eats at the same time, plays, changes, etc etc.

Paige, your smile is magic. If I'm frustrated or sad and I see that silly little grin, I can't help but smile too. It makes my day every single day. Your daddy and I are so proud of you and we love you to pieces!
